Nuts are threaded holes that work with threaded bolts to fasten hardware. Bolts or screws are cylindrical rods having helical threads and a head; used standalone or with a bolt for positioning and fastening. Washers are thin, round plates of metal or plastic, with a hole for the fastener to go through. About nuts and their types Nuts and bolts hold together materials by forming a tight hold due to their interlocking threads, part compression and stretching of the bolt. Nuts and bolts are matched by their proof strength that is measured by the ISO property class. To circumvent loosening due to vibrations and torque, nuts can come with locking features such as nylon wires, adhesives, oval shaped threads, and so on. These nuts are called locknuts or prevailing torque nuts. They come in various shapes but the most common is hexagonal. The following is a list of common types of nuts: Don’t waste time! Effects Of Shadow Banking On The Financial Crisis

In this essay I am going to discuss the effects of shadow banking on the recent financial crisis of 2007-8. Shadow banking was one of the major causes of the financial crisis since it was the subprime mortgages which was the first trigger of the collapse in the banking system. Through this essay I am to achieve a detailed analysis of why the shadow banking was one of the causes in the financial crisis and why was it not prevented by any regulation enforced. The basis of shadow banking system is that it occurs when financial intermediaries conduct transformation of maturity, credit and liquidity without having access to the central bank liquidity guarantees or even public sector credit. Maturity transformation: obtaining short-term funds to†¦show more content†¦This is in contrast to the traditional banking system of originate to hold model. In the shadow banking system there is an highly important part in the process which is the securitisation process. The securitisation process is a method where illiquid assets are transformed into liquid tradable instruments. In more detail the securitisation process is a method which gives the banks the opportunity to removes the loans from the asset side of their balance sheet meaning that they evenly spread the associated risks to the other financial units. This could be due to the fact that shadow banks are largely unregulated. However during the financial crisis the shadow banking system also helped magnify the risks in the banks balance sheets since after the financial crisis there was an increase in the regulation in the shadowing banking system. The complex process of securitisation has five stages to show the basic structure. The first step of the process starts with the commercial banks. The commercial banks are the originators of the loan since they decide to securities a part of their loans. The following step is the aggregator buys loans from one or more originators which then means that the aggregator can sell the loans to a multiple amount of buyers. The third step is when the loans that have been sold to many buyers are sold off to the

Economics Essay Example For Students

Economics Essay EconomicsDefinition of Topic: Economics is the study of supply and demand. It defines the ways that human beings allocate resources and how resources are distributed amongst a market. It allows you to see trends in current market places and predict what may happen in the future. Many different subjects were once regarded as a part of economics. Political science and even sociology were once considered part of the field. These subjects still play a major role in understanding economics but are also completely separate disciplines today. History: Since ancient times, humans have contemplated basic economic problems. Many great minds have tried to master the subject. Aristotle and Plato were probably the first to document such studies. Both agreed that living by trade was ill fated. Influenced by Greek economic ideals the Romans built their wealth. After the fall of Rome, the Catholic Church would become the power behind most economic laws. They would condemn usury and regarded commerce as inferior to agriculture. It wasnt until 1776 that economics became a study of its own. Adam Smith is considered the father of economics. Through his work Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, he used mercantilism and physiocracy to develop classical economics. Smith emphasized consumption, rather than production to broaden the scope of economics. Modern thought still follows his examples for permitting self-interest in order to promote national prosperity. This is most evident when looking at todays smaller business market. Twenty years later, Malthus would write a discouraging, but very influential book, An Essay on the Principle of Population. Malthus believed that the human race would eventually be doomed by overpopulation. His theory was that food would increase in arithmetic ratio but population would double every generation. This theory is faulty because it does not account for disease, famine, war, etc. Malthus view of supply and demand left a permanent impression on generations to come. It would hence be know as the dismal science. Next to revolutionize economics would be the Communist Manifesto in 1848. Karl Marx had the classical vision of capitalism, Marxism was in large measure a sharp rebuttal, but to some extent it embodied variations of classical themes. For Marx, the labor theory was a clue to the inner workings of capitalism, the master key to the inequities and exploitation of an unjust system. In the long run, Marx believed that capitalism was certain to falter because its tendency to concentrate income and wealth in ever fewer hands created more and more severe crises of excess output and rising unemployment. For Marx, capitalisms fatal contradiction was between improving technological efficiency and the lack of purchasing power to buy what was produced in ever larger quantities. John Maynard Keynes was a student of Alfred Marshall and an exponent of neoclassical economics until the 1930s. The Great Depression bewildered economists and politicians alike. The economists continued to hold, against mounting evidence to the contrary, that time and nature would restore prosperity if government refrained from manipulating the economy. Unfortunately, approved remedies simply did not work. In the U.S., Franklin D. Roosevelts 1932 landslide presidential victory over Herbert Hoover attested to the political bankruptcy of laissez-faire policies. New explanations and fresh policies were urgently required; this was precisely what Keynes supplied. In his enduring work The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money, the central message translates into two powerful propositions. Existing explanations of unemployment he declared to be nonsense: Neither high prices nor high wages could explain persistent depression and mass unemployment. Instead, he proposed an alternative explanation of these phenomena focused on what he termed aggregate demandthat is, the total spending of consumers, business investors, and governmental bodies. When aggregate demand is low, he theorized, sales and jobs suffer; when it is high, all is well and prosperous. Sex Education EssaySocial responsibility of each concept:Humans develop societies, and a part of society is the economy in which those humans live in. Although economics itself cannot be held responsible for social conduct, the humans that control it can. Not all countries are as economically wealthy as the United States. Many countries have poor or failing economies. While the citizens of the United States cannot be held accountable for the failings of third-world countries, I believe it is the responsibility of those who have, to help those who have not. As human beings we should not let others suffer needlessly. For this reason we have charities and other ways of giving time, money, or services to the needy. Our government has even incouraged these actions by offering tax breaks for things of this nature. Career Opportunities in each field: The career opportunities in the field of economics are endless. Almost any job available is in some way related to, or a part of economics. The most obvious job example in this field is an economist. An economist studies the economy and consults businesses, such as a bank, on how to manage their assets. A perfect example of an economist is Alan Greenspan. Mr. Greenspan was also an advisor to President Nixon, and is now head of the U.S. Federal Reserve System, two more good examples of career opportunities in the field of economics. Another excellent choice for economics majors is teaching. There are job openings all across the country at many prestigious universities for economics professors. As an economics major, graduates could work for the National Institute of Health as an Operations Research Analyst, as an accountant (anywhere), or in almost any research or marketing opening. The Centers for Disease Control even require economists; they currently have positions open for post-doctorate fellowships. These are just a sampling of the job opportunities in the field and related fields of economics. With very little research, anyone interested in economics could find a plethora of interesting and challenging careers pursuable within the realm of economics. Lennie of Mice and Men free essay sample

Most people always have an innocence to them, some more than others. Those that hurt people intentionally and don’t care about other people’s feelings may not have that innocence. Lennie if Of Mice and Men by George Stienbeck is the biggest kid around. Problem with him being a so called kid is that he’s actually a rather large grown man. People say he should be locked up in a looney house, he’s never going to be of any use or do well in life. Well should he? He doesn’t mean any harm. Lennie in this novel always acts like a child and never means the harm that he accidently causes. Lennie is a grown man but really just a child at heart. He’s a big man, could kill you with a flick, but he wouldn’t hurt a fly even if told to. â€Å"Jesus† said Slim, â€Å"He’s jes like a kid, ain’t he. We will write a custom essay sample on Lennie of Mice and Men or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page † (43). Anyone with a heart that wasn’t bitter could see through Lennie’s exterior, and could see an innocent child at heart. Lennie likes to touch soft things, just don’t score him while he’s petting it. â€Å"I could pet it with my thumb while we walked along. † (6). Lennie said. â€Å"I jus wanted to pet ‘um a little. † Maybe Lennie liked to pet and touch soft things because he had an obsession with soft things in his childhood. Just a big kid that liked soft things. Lennie never meant to hurt people or animals. Lennie accidently hurt and scared people, but he never meant to cause that. â€Å"I didn’t mean no harm, George. Honest, I didn’t. † (43). Said Lennie. â€Å"I don’t want ta hurt you. † (91). Lennie most likely never meant to cause harm, pain, or sorrow, it was always unintentional. Lennie always felt bad when he hurt someone, he didn’t mean to harm them. He knew when he had done something bad, he knew George was going to be mad at him for it. Whispered in fright, â€Å"I done a bad thing. I done another bad thing. †(41). Said Lennie. â€Å"Ain’t you gonna give me hell George? † (103). Lennie felt bad about the accidents he caused. He knew had done bad. He knew he was going to get in trouble for it. Lennie never meant any harm, and when he did cause harm he always felt bad and guilty. Things take a twist for the worst when the inner child causes unintentional harm. Of Mice and Mens Lennie never meant to harm. Those that did not like Lennie didn’t have a heart or the innocence. He could have done well in life, if people just gave him a fair chance instead of judging. See things the way Lennie does, the innocent way. Lennie is innocent, is just a big kid, and never means the pain he accidently causes.

Christianity Essays (375 words) - Christian Eschatology, Prophecy

Christianity When one passes judgement on the credibility of a work of literature, he must first thoroughly examine the studies upon which the author bases his composition. In the case of Tim LaHaye's sensational series of novels regarding the rapture, biblical prophecy is the primary platform of substance. Left Behind deals directly with the prophecies claimed by theologians in the book of Revelations. Many are skeptical of the seemingly outrageous predictions made by the book. To get a better understanding of the possibility of such events taking place let's first examine the history of other biblical prophecy. One outstanding book that is packed with fulfilled prognostications is the book of Ezekiel. In the twenty-sixth chapter, the Lord reveals to Ezekiel seven predictions. They are as follows: Nebuchadnezzar will destroy the mainland city of Tyre, many nations will come against Tyre, She will be made a bare rock; flat like the top of a rock, fishermen will spread nets over the site, the debris will be thrown into the water, she will never be rebuilt, and she will never be found again. The fact must be taken into consideration that at the time, Tyre was a great nation such as our own. Moreover, nobody ever imagined it would fall, much less endure such catastrophic shortcomings. Math ematicians have concluded that if Ezekiel had made these predictions with human wisdom there would have been only one chance in 75, 000, 000 of their all coming true (McDowell 63). Nonetheless, each and every augury was fulfilled. If that doesn't lend credibility to the Bible, what does? In addition, numerous studies have proven the bible to be rich with historical accuracy. One of the greatest being archaeology. Archaeologist Joseph Free hits a nail on the head when he states, ?Archaeology has confirmed countless passages which have been rejected by critics and unhistorical or contradictory to known facts (McDowell 54).? In conclusion, there exists no document from the ancient world witnessed by so excellent a set of textual and historical testimonies and offering so superb an array of historical data on which an intelligent decision may be made. Skepticism regarding the historical credentials of Christianity is based on irrational bias. Bibliography McDowell, Josh. A Ready Defense. Nashville: Thomas Nelson, Inc., 1993 Religion Essays

Fitzgeralds Symbolic Use of Color

Fitzgeralds Symbolic Use of Color Free Online Research Papers â€Å"If personality is an unbroken series of successful gestures, then there was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life, as if he were related to one of those intricate machines that register earthquakes ten thousand miles away† (6). Even before he was Mr. Gatsby, when he was still referred to as James (Jimmy by his father) Gatz, Jay had a sense of life’s infinite possibilities. From his yellow car to his pink suit, everything about Gatsby portraits his idealism. Fitzgerald’s many references to color play a key part in making Gatsby the iconic character he has become. The first time the reader sees Gatsby he is staring into the night. At first Nick believes Gatsby is looking at the sky, peppered with silver stars. In fact, Gatsby is enthralled by a green light in the distance. The light, coming from the end of Daisy’s dock, symbolizes how close Gatsby is to his dream. In the United States, a green light means go (Wikipedia), which is perhaps the easiest way to summarize what Gatsby is thinking to himself as he stares into the green light. Gatsby had spent five years building himself up to the position and location he is now located in. With all the effort and illegal activity Gatsby ahs put into his transformation, he is, no doubt, telling himself to just go for it. Daisy is only inches from his grasp. Green is also a symbol of wealth, especially in the United States (Wikipedia). It is fitting that Daisy’s light should be green. Daisy weighs everything in her life on its financial value. Thus the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock also symbolizes her greed and superficial values, which Gatsby embraces, just as he reaches out to embrace the green light. â€Å"He stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (25). Not only does it resemble the wealth which is a crutch for all of Daisy’s decisions; the light also resembles the wealth that Gatsby worked so hard to obtain, in order to please Daisy. The first time Nick and Gatsby go to New York together, Gatsby is dressed in a caramel suit. Brown, in many cultures, resembles poverty (Wikipedia). Despite all his efforts to reinvent himself, Gatsby will always have a little bit of James Gatz in him. Even though he had long ago left his family behind to find a better life for himself, Gatsby travels back to visit his father and buy him a house. Brown can also represent wholesomeness, friendliness, and dependability (Wikipedia), all of which are characteristics of Gatsby. Finally, brown can be used to mean simplicity (Wikipedia). This is especially fitting after we see Gatsby’s personal bedroom. â€Å"His bedroom was the simplest of all – except where the dresser was garnished with a toilet set of pure dull gold† (97). Gold is another color often associated with Gatsby, whether it is in the form of his toiletries or his clothing. As cold is a precious and expensive metal, it is used to symbolize something that is precious or costly (Whyte). For Gatsby, gold represents the great wealth he has obtained. Everything he has earned is precious to him only based on Daisy’s reaction. She adores his rich clothes and gold hairbrush, so they mean that much more to Gatsby. While Gatsby now wears gold suits, he once wore a blue coat given to him by his mentor Dan Cody. His chauffeurs too wear uniforms of robin’s egg blue. This is fitting because blue often represents idealism (Wikipedia), a virtue with which Gatsby is very familiar. In fact, the entire book is formed around Gatsby’s attempts to achieve his ideals. Further, it is symbolic that Cody should be the one to give Gatsby the blue coat, because it is Cody who teaches Gatsby how to obtain wealth, and therefore reach his goals. Blue also appears in the form of a dress which Gatsby buys for a guest. It is â€Å"gas blue with lavender beads† (48). The dress comes into the story after a party. One of his guests accidentally rips her dress, so Gatsby replaces it with the blue one. Blue can also symbolize peace (Wikipedia) which Gatsby hoped to keep by purchasing the dress for $265. Gatsby not only buys rich clothes but also for himself, including a white suit which he wears on the day he is finally reunited with Daisy. White was a wise choice because it represents security (Wikipedia). During their first romance, Daisy leaves Gatsby because he lacks the money needed to guarantee her security. Now, however, Gatsby has an abundance of wealth and is perfectly capable of offering her the security she needs. Aside from his luxurious attire, Gatsby also has a fancy yellow car. Yellow often symbolizes optimism, as well as idealism (Wikipedia). Not only is Gatsby the epitome of idealism, he also very much embodies the practice of optimism. Ever since he was a child, Gatsby has believed in the potential of his life and his ability to better himself. â€Å"‘Jimmy was bound to get ahead. He always had some resolves like this or something. Do you notice what he’s got about improving his mind? He was always great for that’† (182). However, yellow can also stand for dishonesty (Wikipedia). Gatsby’s dishonesty is a critical aspect of who he is. Displeased with his poor upbringing, James Gatz creates an entirely new identity (Jay Gatsby). When he first meets Daisy he lies about his background to gain her attention and make her believe he is worthy of her. Among all of his ‘friends’ Gatsby is dishonest about where he obtained his wealth, claiming inheritance. He is also well-known throughout the novel for his white lies. Gatsby likes to stretch the truth, for example, saying that he is an Oxford man, when he only attended for five months. Aside from his yellow car, Gatsby is most characterized by his pink suit. His pink suit seems to deny the credibility of some of his claims, such as being an Oxford man. â€Å"Like hell he is! He wears a pink suit† (129). However, pink often tends to symbolize admiration (Wikipedia). Despite the fact that no one really knows anything about Gatsby (mainly because there isn’t anything to know, since Jay Gatsby isn’t actually a real person), he is still extremely admired and respected by his party guests and acquaintances. Fitzgerald uses color symbolism to set up the array of characteristics of Gatsby. These colors play a key role in establishing Gatsby’s strong personality. Throughout the entire novel Gatsby is an idealistic and optimistic young man with an incredible ability to realize life’s infinite possibilities. He truly is the great Gatz. Story of my leadership - Assignment Example He should be able to portray optimism even in the face of adversity. This type of leadership advocates for what would be referred to us intellectual stimulation. Offering a room for creativity free from a lot of red tapes predisposes leader’s followers to a greater level of confidence. The followers are able to effectively connect with their leader without fear of any punitive measures against them. In this leadership model, a leader should be able to enhance positive change among his followers. It focuses on the personality of the leader instead of the actions of the same leader. To effect change and impart it among individuals requires a lot of assertiveness which is a must trait that a leader should posses if not learn. Change may be costly to an organization if not handled in the right manner. It includes all aspects of change be it a positive change or negative change.
